tread depth gauge

pull the gauge stick from the body of the gauge (do not pull with too much force, as this may damage the gauge)
place the metal pin protruding from the gauge stick into the deepest part of the tire's tread, perpendicular to the tyre surface
gently press the gauge toward the tyre until the two prongs touch the surface of the tyre (make sure the prongs do not go into the tread)
remove the gauge from the tyre and check the number (the mm figure in contact with the body on the gauge stick) if only red numbers are visible (0-1.6mm/ 0-2/32 inch), the tread has worn down to below the recommended level. the tyre should be replaced immediately.
gently push the gauge stick into the body so that the stick is inward of the two prongs.

now relax.

Throughout the steps in these instructions, be sure to note the orientation of various screws, bolts, nuts and washers to ensure you put everything back together correctly. It is important that you follow these steps 100% to ensure the gauges are dismantled/reassembled correctly. Continuously use discretion, finesse, and patience – this is not a project you want to rush or you risk permanently damaging your gauges. Make sure the tools you are using fit the application to avoid stripping the nuts or screw heads.
